Pastoral Support
We are all on a journey through life, but we do not travel alone; God is with us every step of the way. The pastoral role of the Church is to provide company on that journey, through the good times and the bad. The parish structure of the Church of England means that the Church is there for everyone, not just believers. Everyone lives in a parish and therefore has a parish priest to whom they can turn, as well as others who can provide prayer and practical support.
Pastoral support may include the following:
- Praying for and with those in need
- Bereavement support
- Taking Holy Communion to the sick and housebound
- Hospital and residential care home visiting
- Baptism, confirmation and marriage preparation
- Activities for children
- Groups and classes to help people to grow in faith
